SAA-Nigerian?

I just got the new Justplanes.com DVD "The Big Apple"; 6 hours of take-offs and landings at JFK and La Guardia. I spotted a SAA B747-400 with a little bit of a different livery. On the side it had the following:

Nigerian Airlines in partnership with South African. The Nigerian part in green font was added to the original SOUTH AFRICAN new livery. I knew that they had some partnership before but I had no idea that the SAA 747's had this altered livery.

Was this only on the JFK service? Does anyone else know what I am talking about? Your thoughts please...

There was only one 747 that had this marking and it went everywhere, here it is in Perth.

EDIT: Maybe not only one if what you saw on the video was a 744! I'll see what I can find out at SAA.

Hi Andz,
From what I can remember I did see Boeing 747-400 on the side of the plane, I will check it out again, just got the DVD today. They have the camera moving from the back over the wing so you can see the whole plane, except for the front so I did not see the name. They have a normal livery SAA 747 taking off and follows it banking left bound for Jo'burg, amazing to see. Also brand new you can see a A340-300 parked at the gate and taxing towards the gate - awesome plane!

Looks like it was a 300, I must be confused with one of the 400's thats also featured in the dvd.

The aircraft involved was a B747-344, ZS-SAU.

There was a short-lived alliance between the 2 airlines on the Lagos-JFK route with apparently fell through after some kind of disagreement over seat no allocations on the route.
