Allegiant Air New City Guesses

I noticed a few guesses about G4 potential cities on other threads so I thought Rick and the rest of the Allegiant gang might enjoy a thread about our collective guesses of potential cities. Allegiant is holding an employee party tonight so they probably won't see this for a day or 2.

Allegiant will receive a new aircraft this week and another on Jan 15 so we know several new cities are coming soon.

I thought I'd use some info from Harrahs annual survey of American Gamblers. Download at:
http://www.harrahs.com/about_us/survey/
Pages 26-27 listed the 55 cities that generate over 1 million annual trips to all gambling locations. It doesn't mean they are good destinations for LAS, both BTR and RDD appear on this list and they didn't turn out as good Allegiant cities. ( I guess RDD is more of a Reno city  Big grin )

But there are a few other cities on this list where gambling is popular but LAS service is lacking. So my SWAG guesses for Allegiant in 2005 are (in no particular order):
** Jackson MS
** Grand Rapids
** Flint
** Traverse City
** Duluth

I have heard chatter here in Grand Rapids (GRR) about a GRR-LAS flight and the ground ops would be serviced by Delta here in GRR.

Why doesn't G4 have scheduled service into Bullhead City? I would think in the winter they would fill those 80s easily!!

I think G4 should get Twin Otters and fly them between IFP and LAS. LOL!

Iowaman,

You ever been to Vegas? Or Laughlin? You look in those casinos and there are people from all over this country! Whatever city they fly into and out of I bet would love a flight to the desert for some SLOTS!

Wedgetail737,

Make it one of those CRJs and I would fly that route every week!

How about a combi to IFP?  Big thumbs up Most of the people I know who go to Laughlin want to take their boat or jetski to spend time on the river during the day. But they don't fit in the cargo area of most aircraft.

It would be cool if they did like one scheduled flight to LGB. I believe they have chartered there a couple times.

Is the A/C above their charter livery, as apposed to their other more vibrant livery? I have seen the livery above at RDU several times... but not their colorful one.

That livery is their older livery. The more colorful is the new livery.

Sure why not? SCY flies that route. Every SCY flight that lands at IFP is always full. It's a market that is booming. I mean I am good for at least 2 flights maybe 3 in a 3 month span and I am only a part time resident of IFP!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

What about them doing casino charters into GPT? I'm sure they could fill a flights into GPT on a daily basis from say DFW, CLT, BWI or HOU. Considering that if you want to fly to GPT but don't live in ATL, MEM, IAH/HOU, TPA, FLL, or MCO, you have to fly to those cities in order to get to GPT (unless you have an airline that flies n/s to MSY or MOB, both of which are not too long of a drive from GPT.). AirTran used to run MCO-GPT, BNA-GPT, DFW-GPT, and HOU-GPT, but dropped them due to loads on those flights.

G4 already does six to eight flights a week from and to RNO and IFP. Don't need scheduled.
How about TOL or SHV. Something near Maryville CA or Metford OR.
Where ever it goes there'll have to be a population base within 60 or so miles.
That's why RDD didn't work out.

Just because Harrah's brings in people to Laughlin using Allegiant doesn't mean they don't need scheduled service. Just the opposite. I think the fact of frequent charters means there are people that want to go there and would like to stay somewhere else besides Harrah's.

** Grand Rapids
** Flint
** Traverse City

The three above mentioned cities are already served with the flights that are offered from LAN! They should look at CAK to begin offering flights and even DAY would be a good choice as well.

How is TVC served by flights offered at LAN? Look at a map and then take into account the brutal winters we have in Michigan and tell me how convenient it is to drive from TVC-LAN to catch a flight to Vegas.  Sleepy

Traverse City makes sense. Lots of snowbird/gamblers plus a new terminal and extra ticket counters would be appealing to the airline also.

Folks, Folks, Folks,

First, NikV69, sorry but IFP ain't gonna happen. A relatively small population would not support scheduled flights for G4. Also, all those people that come in for Harrahs are probably being flown in to IFP for free just to get them into Harrahs and gambling.

The Christmas party was fun but Maury didn't drop any major bombshells on us. I was hoping that he would throw us a bone but to no avail.

Also, the delivery of the next aircraft is currently delayed due to a maintenance issue in Oslo. Some kind of engine EGT problem. We should know something by tomorrow hopefully.

Rgds,

Atc Rick

Just in NIK's defense, how was Morris Air able to operate IFP in the past?

Wedgetail,

Where did Morris operate to out of IFP? Was it a profitable route for them or just some place they hung on to? Do you know if any of the hotels there were subsidizing them at all? I would have to have all the information before I could make an educated answer for you.
