UL services to Beijing was touted to start this winter (late 2004) and I have not heard a thing. Am I in the dark or what is holding this up. Perhaps Aircraft shortage?. Anyway UL need to standardise interiors across all 340s as a matter of urgency in my view. Otherwise there will be a lot of disappointed passengers who are looking forward to great Srilankan service and amenities.

From the latest I have heard, there will not be any flights to PEK in the forseeable future.
I agree, UL will have to standardise the interior (and keep the in- and outside of their planes clean). Some of their european flights (especially FRA, CDG and ZRH) are not doing very well. Maybe this is already the result of dirty aircraft inside/outside, broken seats, broken PTV's. Sad to see SriLankan going back to old AirLanka style. Keep the planes up in the air, no time for cleaning or maintenance. It's a shame, they offer great inflight service, fantastic crew.

Well, a lot of fanfare on intending service, both CEO and other senior managers have commented on it. In this industry it is paramount to stick to the plans. People plan their travel reasonably well ahead (especially leisure travel).
Airmale why did you say UL need to have clean interiors. I found them squeaky clean every time I flew them. But not in the past 3 years. So have they taken eye off the ball?
