Wow... an A340 to Cincinatti? And an A330 to DTW.. interesting. Perhaps they'll switch the two in the future?

Congrats to Cincinatti. AF looks to be building a little more strength in the US with the addition of DTW and resumption of CVG flight.

Anything else on the horizon for AF? I heard mention of Seattle as a possible destination along with DTW but maybe it was an either/or situation and DTW won out. They ain't comin back to my DFW any time soon, if ever... Sad

CVG is planned to return as a summer-only service. SEA is rumoured for 2006...keep in mind that a lot can change by then.

AF has been schizophrenic with CDG-CVG for a while now..they intro'ed the flight, pulled it, reinstated it, then pulled it, and now going back in for the summer.

No shock there, considering the restrictions placed upon its financial cooperation with DL at that gateway (as well as the more powerful ATL) that they do not have to face elsewhere.

I'm surprised they're giving CVG yet another chance

Hasn't AF used the A340 on the CVG route before? I don't see them swapping to an A330. CVG can handle the A340.

"can" and "should" are two totally separate concepts....

and AF most likely cares about "can" rather than "should"

...based on what?

Ever since the days of USA dereg (post Concorde-introduction), AF's been extremely conservative in the N.American market relative to its Euro-brethren.

In recent years, it's also expanded here the least... one reason it appeared to weather the effects of 9/11 best among the western global carriers.
