Well, seems that Virgin Atlantic cargo is a bit unorganized.

Of course, I don;t work in cargo so perhaps I am overstepping my bounds.

But to make a long story short, I am awaiting a large piece of cargo that came from the UK last Thursday. It's techincally here but missing.

Once it got here, I was told it needed clearance through customs, which it underwent on Friday.

It was supposed to be delivered yesterday, then today but the freight company is at the mercy of Virgin who apparently swithced warehouses and now the freight is in the process of being located by visual inspection (!). So no one knows where the fuck the stuff is. lovely.

Well, Cargo folks, what could have possible gone wrong? and why is Virgin such a screwball?

No experience with Virgin but its all the same. It happened to me once before. Most likely its just internal mis-communication that caused this. Chances are its just sitting somewhere in the facility (maybe with other boxes/crates on top of it) and won't be found until someone begins to physically search. Once it hits the floor of the facility there is really no telling where it could be. Only when your forwarder presents himself, will they start searching. If it's there, they will find it but i know the feeling. They probably didn't have room to put it where it normally goes and it may be even sharing space with another carrier's cargo. Patience is a virtue in this circumstance.

Cheers.

That is exactly what's happening. The freight people are on site and searching.

Supposely, an issue exists that Virgin just switched buildings where its freight is cleared and now its in a building whose freight is shared with Korean and Jal.

At least the freight has been forthcoming and has kept me apprised daily of the situation.
