Little disappointed about Thai Airways Frankfurt: during a tombola I won 2 free flights in Economy Class for 2005 and asked during the event, if it's also for Non-Airliners.
TG representitive said, it's no problem at all and wishes me lots of fun with the voucher.
2 days later i had a question concerning the ticket and the lady denied: Sorry, misunderstanding, no ticket, no other present.

Little disappointed about the promises of a so-called 4-star-airline.

If you still have the name of the person that told you it would be no problem, try contacting that person again to find out what's going on... or was it the same person that later told you that it was a "misunderstanding"?

In any case - if the vouchers weren't for non-airliners, they should have never given them to you... strange behaviour indeed...

Regards,
Frank

Yes, a strange behaviour, but in the meantime I got a much better offer from QF and so I don't need the TG tickets.

But this behaviour makes an airline less reliable.

This sounds like you have won a ID/AD ticket at a ticket raffle that was only for airline staff. Some airlines exchange tickets for their staff and hold a raffle at christmas. Those tickets are the same as ID/AD tickets, same rules apply. What was the event where you have won the tickets?

Airmale, you got it. But I was participating in the event and was not just a visitor. And it was an ID/AD ticket.
But if or if not: if TG would have denied the free ticket it would have been ok for me because of the ID/AD. And there were other exclusive prices without tickets. If somebody said "sorry, not for non-IATA people", i would have participated with the tombola again. But that's not the topic.
The point is: I won a ticket and it's been denied. And on the "Happy winner letter" there was no remark concerning the group of people who will/would win.

Anyway: now I am travelling with QF to Australia and pay Eco ticket - get an Upgrade into 1st, without ID/AD  Wink/being sarcastic

You kow, Airmale: it's just the behavour.

I am sure management at QF is very happy having an Economy passenger upgraded to F. Anyway, enjoy the ride.

@Airmale - you're absolutely right: no airline is looking for passengers having them in Business Class (not F  Wink/being sarcastic ) - but as your life experience may tell you: life is a taking and giving. They wouldn't give me something if they don't get something back from me.
Anyway: it just shows what a promise counts.

If QF doesn't even upgrade their top tier Platinum members from economy to First, I very much doubt you'll get that treatment. After all, is there ANY loyalty from you to fly with them after this trip?

NumberTwelve,

I don;t quite understand what has happened, but it seems to be that u one a free ticket that u were ineligable for, and u still want TG to honour it.

If i was TG, I would do the same....

Perhaps the airline industry is in the state it's in because for to long people within the industry have expected something for nothing....

GuyBetsy: there is loyalty and also QF has advantages from me as a non-QF-coworker. And by the way: no, I am not (any more) a travel agent who issues 2 QF tickets a year and wants to have free flights  Wink/being sarcastic

6th freedom: I also work in travel industry (not airlines) and TG is a good partner of us. When I as #12 tell them they get a free ticket from us, I am responsible that they get the ticket. If not, I get lots of trouble because our company policy is: a yes is a yes and we have to be reliable.

Ok, I am able to negotiate with the partner if I can't give them free tickets from us but I just can't say: you get a kick in the a**! And that is what TG gave me.

As I said: it happened and it was bad policy, now I know what a promise from a partner means. I wouldnt have been angry if I got no ticket and they told me during the event - but they told me after everything happened.

How would you react?
If you were TG you would do the same, but you are 6th freedom, what would you as person do?

As you tell us, you are clearly somebody from "inside" the business and you know the rules. So, what's the fuss all about?

These days, in aviation it is all about give and take and take and take and take........

Still, I am glad you will have a fantastic trip on one of the worlds best airlines.
As I have said before, enjoy the ride and forget the free TG ticket.
