Anybody know what this aircraft was doing here today? Was a pleasant surprise from the normal airline scene. It was parked at the GA ramp I believe.

I love the smell of jet fuel in the morning.

I believe it's still there. Hopefully, I'll go and nail it tomorrow.

Alex.

I think it probably is a VIP aircraft (government visit?). Which aircraft was it, the VIP A310-300, the new VIP configured A330-200? Also what's up with the VIP A340-500 which the Qatar Government ordered quite a while ago? Will this aircraft still be delivered? I read it's waiting on interior fitting? Not related to this topic, the (Royal Jordanian) Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan VIP configured A340-200 was seen in San Francisco a while ago. Those aircraft must have a nice interior/cabin lay-out  Wink/being sarcastic

It's not unheard of to see those VIP aircraft in the USA. In September, I saw two Qatari aircraft, an A300 and an A320, parked next to each other on the south side of LAX, near the cargo area. Unfortuantely, my pics of it were not uploadable in terms of quality. Oh well...

Was it an A320, or an A319? They have an ACJ for VIP service and it being in LAX is not a stretch of the imagination at all.

They also still do operate that AB6.

The exciting new ones, of course, are the 345 and the 332.

I want a VIP airplane that can fly between any two points on the globe for my own personal use. Where do I sign up?

I think I saw that yesterday when doing some spotting by the 35s. I think the tail was not fully painted though, if I was seeing the right aircraft.

My guess would be whoever came on the Qatar plane wanted to enjoy the ski resorts here, espesscially with the fresh powder.

Here is the Qatar VIP A345. It was rolled out of the Airbus factory May 2003. It's currently having its interior fitted and that can take upto 20 months, so I don't think it'll be too long before they start flying for the government now.

Thanks for the info Horus. As usual, you have more insight in aviation in the Middle East. Why does it take so long to fit the interior in Qatar's case? Do all VIP aircraft need almost two years to fit the aircraft with the interiors they want? I can imagine it takes more time than fitting a 'normal' interior, but two years? I am just curious to know why it takes so long. I hope to see Qatar's new VIP A340-500 flying around very soon, must be very nice to have such a private jet  Wink/being sarcastic

A388, thanks for the complements  Smile

I'm not too sure why they take that long but the entire fittings proccess can take from as little as 6 months to upto 2 years depending on what exactly is being fitted, especially if the fittings are designed or built to order.

That would explain the Royal Jordanian A340 here in SLC today....

Update- Had to get some more relatives from DIA today and went for a closer look. It's a A330-200 in full Qatar colours. Pretty impressive livery.
Didn't have my camera along tho.

The A345 is for VIP only? I figured it was a normal pax A/C... Well, I guess I learned something new today! Has Qatar ordered any A345s for pax service or for VIP duties only?

Thanks,
Alex

It is from the Amiri Flight Dep.

I guess some of the Royal Family made a brief trip to Denver.

I have seen the cabin layout for both the new A330-200 and the A340-500 and it is AMAZING! (42" in LCD or something around those numbers).

The A330 is close to being delivered to QAF, but it has one-year delay.

The situation is worse for the A340-500, they did not start interior fitting yet...

It's done by Sogerma in BOD. I've heard that they had to remove the engines from the A/C as QAF wanted to take the A/C back and give it to Lufhtansa Technik or Jet Aviation.

No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.
