I hear Mr. Larry Kellner will get the job.

I'm not surprised that CO will cut the salary - if memory serves correctly, the entire executive staff at CO suspended salaries, ad benefits, immediately after 9/11 in an effort to keep CO afloat.

I thought that an honorable gesture. I don't recall the same thing happening at other carriers. Just another reason Gordo will be missed . . . . . and that CO expects to remain in the black in '05.

Good to see that the Brass are leading by example.

It is a pity that other airlines who are seeking pay cuts from the staff do not do the same.

"CO expects to remain in the black in 05" ??????

As well as CO is doing in many areas, being in the black is not one of them!!

Yes a 25% pay cut sure looks good in the headlines, but didn't upper management get close to a 25%raise earlier in the year? Or is he just forfeiting his new salary as CEO and keeping his former salary, thus no "loss of pay". I have to do some research, but I believe this is true.

Gordon was on CNBC the other day talking about his retirement next week and he said that CO's international service is making good profit, however, they are loosing all that in the domestic market.

They would have to be in the black in order to remain in it...I'm near positive they posted a quarterly loss at 9/30/04

saw CNN this morning and they discussed airline industry for 2 solid hrs. talked with my dad about gordo today. he is a very wise airline exec and i hope CO gets a good guy to replace him. CO and AA are headed in the right direction to stay competitive and attempting to make profits.

Good question. I know for a fact he is never going back to CO. Also I dont know if the agreement that he made with that investor only has to do with CO or all airlines. Good question.

why is Bethune leaving CO? He seems to be one of the most respected airline execs out there today. He really turned CO into a major player, IMHO, internationally. I am amazed at CO route structure. It's increasingly becoming more and more extensive.

If he wants to be loved even more, send him over to UA. Compared to him, Tilton might as well be on Pluto.  Big grin

Would be a good idea to get Gordo over to UA. Large airline like UA needs someone who will come in, cut threw the bull sh**, tell it like it is, then go forward. I think people tend to respect managers and CEO's if they just tell it like it is, how things are going to be, and then do what they say!

Lord knows UA needs some help right now.
