Didn't Iberia operate a nonstop flight from Barcelona several times a week to JFK back in the 1980's and 1990's? I thought this flight was operated with a DC10-30, then a 747-200, then an A340-300?
If Delta can operate a nonstop flight in this market, why can't the home airline do it?

Delta does not have a non-stop BCN-JFK at this time of the year.
Currently Delta's flight 90 to JFK starts in BCN, stops in MAD for about an hour and a half, when you stay in the plane while passengers unload and load in. Not a problem when you live in BCN, would hate it if I was based in MAD (makes your trip back much much longer than with another carrier). In the summer half of the year, Delta operates DL95 direct BCN-JFK and DL90 MAD-JFK.
Also half of the year Delta operates 115 BCN-ATL, which is the one I always use in the summer. Now if I need to go south I either have to stop in JFK and take an aweful local flight (I avoid local US planes as much as I can, taking an international more comfortable plane from Europe as near to my destination as I can). So I end up flying AF from CDG or KLM from AMS, both which serve much more places in the US direct from Europe than does Delta...

Delta currently operates JFK-BCN-MAD-JFK. Not as good as in the summer when the flight will be nonstop both ways, though you do get a nonstop service at least in one direction.

They had it a couple of years ago with a 763, but stopped it after 9/11.

This is the first winter where DL is trying out a JFK-BCN-MAD-JFK routing. In previous years, the winter flight always went JFK-MAD-BCN and v.v.
Looks like the separate nonstops JFK-BCN-JFK (DL94/95) and JFK-MAD-JFK (DL126/127) return starting Sunday, March 27, 2005.

hey
I remember reading something on the fourms that Iberia was going to start service from BCN-JFK in October or September 2005. I think the flight would be opperated with a A340-300 since the MAD-JFK flights will be flown with A340-600s.
