I found this interesting article in the Seattle Times about Boeing's turbulent year. Seeing how there's a similar type article in this forum on Airbus, I decided to post this.

Quick summary for those that don't want to read the whole thing.
Good things for Boeing:
-Navy 737 contract
-Launch of 7E7
-Raising production rates by 25% or more for 737, 747, 777 in 2005
-General turn around in aviation industry
-Boeing hiring again

Bad things for Boeing:
-Continued dominance of Airbus in both orders and deliveries
-767 Tanker scandal

Continued transformations:
-Sale of Wichita fabrication plant
-Moving assembly line for 777
-Expanding moving assembly line for 737
-Prototyping 7E7 assembly process

Overall, 2005 will determine whether Boeing will ever be able to be No. 1 again.

Good summary IMO.

Imagine : if they got the tanker deal they would have $61 Billion (1) government contracts for the civil 737 and 767 lines..

Since when it's a bad thing to have a worthy competitor?

Good summary

Under continued transformations add:

Sales team / customer communication (it's a slow process though changing customers perceptions), and related

Package deals (including acquisition, ownership and disposal).
