Aloha. Starting September 6, 2005, AA will op HNL-OGG one way evening flights on 757 aircraft. What is the routing for this flight (AA195)? Does this mean that the aircraft ops one-way into HNL and one-way out of OGG?

The flight starts 10 January 2005. It operates on off seasons, when AA will combine the SJC-HNL and SJC-OGG flights into a triangle routing of SJC-HNL-OGG-SJC. During the off-season this past November, AA operated the flight SJC-OGG-HNL-SJC. The flights will operate independently during two annual periods: winter break and Memorial Day through Labour Day weekends.

I was at the Honolulu International Airport this past Friday (New Years' Eve) and there was a flight departing for Lihue, Kauai, at around 12:30-ish.

Does anyone know if this was a regularly scheduled service, and if so, if it was one of the one-way triangle repositioning flights much like OGG-HNL?

They aren't just "repositioning" flights. There are passengers onboard that are going to the second destination.

If it is availiable to go Island Hopping that would be better than a 732 or a 717.

The HNL-OGG segment is sold for $89 I believe. The flight leaves around 8:20pm if I remember correctly. You would need to purchase a HA (codeshare partner) or AQ ticket to return to HNL.

Thanks for your replies. Is there any word on AA's HNL-NRT project?

HNL-NRT has a slot problem at NRT. There are not 7 days worth of the same time slots. There are slots on "some other runway" at a different time that could make this a 7 day trip.

I do know that when AA applied for the route, there were no challenges from any other airlines, so AA has the authority to start whenever, but no dates have yet to be announced and it might still not happen. If it is ever announced, the flight would be operated with 767-300s.
