Just noticed that Continental's EWR-HNL nonstop is scheduled to stop in SEA whereas Delta is going for it from both ATL and CVG. The winds look pretty heavy. I'm surprised that CO is stopping and DL is going. I know EWR-HNL is further, but also remeber that DL's 764s carry a larger pax load. Interesting. Comments welcome.

Maybe they are using a bigger aircraft...or maybe they have a different flight plan...I believe that CO's flight plan takes them right into the jet stream

Each flight has it own route and performance calculations. What a flight is doing at an other airport or gate for that matter has basically zero influence.

As mentioned on the board recently the strong jetstream going across the country (was 100kts yesterday in the Upper Great Lakes region) has caused some enroute fuel stops over the last few weeks.
Specifically several members had commented on Jetblue stopping in Denver and Salt Lake City on some of its West Coast service.
