If I had to guess, I'd say 30-40, but at the rate they're slapping those on during overnight maintenance visits, all wingletted-aircraft will have them in no time...

He means with the southwest.com titles, it's brand new so that may be the only one, or a few others might have it by now.

I'm aware that he was referring to the titles, as winglet installations themselves run alot longer than a mere overnight visit, and we have alot more than 30-40 winglet equipped -700s.. (Trust me..)  Big grin

Addition of the Southwest.com is done on overnight vistits, and all should be modified with a few weeks...

Very interesting how WN can slap some winglets on overnight, but Alaska will do them in C check due to some issues with strenghtening the fuel tank and portions of the wing.

AS739X,

Methinks you misunderstood OPNLguy. The southwest.com *decals* are slapped on during maintenance overnights. The winglets, OF COURSE, are done during maintenance multi-day visits.

I'm certain you didn't mean anything disparaging.  Insane

Let's try this again....

SWA has been installing winglets for awhile now, with something like 60%-70% of the fleet modified, including new deliveries from Boeing that came with them. Retrofitting winglets takes a couple of days...

More recently, it was decided to highlight the "southwest.com" on the winglets. New deliveries now come with the winglets that say that. Other older winglet-equipped aircraft are having the "southwest.com" added (via a decal, I think) and that relatively simple procedure is being accomplished on some overnight maintenance visits.

Everyone clear now?  Big grin

Rumor has it that eventually, only -three- of the -700s with winglets will be kept in the old scheme, to commemorate the original three 737-200 aircraft that we started with back in 1971...

With only 3 of (by then) 500 aircraft in the old scheme, the odds will be greatly in your favor..  Big grin
