This was on the news some days before christmas, and it is really a very welcommed change, and quite good news for us, portuguese spotters. Can't wait to see the new colours!

"TP will change its image on the begining of this year to celebrate its 60th aniversary, due next 14th March. The visual renovation of the portuguese national carrier will happen, for now, by a new livery on its aircraft and the change on the uniforms of the cabin crew.

The spokesman for the company, Mr. António Monteiro, told the electronic edition of the portuguese newspaper Expresso, that a group inside the company is planning the changes, but that "it is still too soon to reveal any news". Even so, he stated that "the first aircraft wearing the new image will be an Airbus A310, to be rolled out on the day of TAP aniversary."

Due to economical and operational reasons, the remaining aircraft will be painted in the new colours as they go into maintenance. As for the uniforms, they will be ready to fly by the end of this year.

LOL!

Curious, you'd mention it, N754PR... because there are some strong rumours that YSS (of which TP owns a major share) will be renamed White for the 2005 summer schedule, because of all the negative image they have in our country  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Now seriously, I am very excited about this change in TP colours.... Maybe it will be some minor change, but then again... I've heard rumours about a livery in the likes of the new Aeroflot colours, or even something more bold, like they did with CS-TTJ, the plane painted for the Euro 2004... would be nice to see the country main landmarks on the tails of TP!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Any further comments? Sugestions?

Regards,
Luis

Nice way to celebrate a 60th anniversary - I hope they've got something good planned...

I guess they won't go as far as having different Portugese landmarks on different planes (like Frontier, only with landmarks instead of animals) - but I doubt they'll just be doing a minor change: seems like an announcement this far in advance would be a bit exaggerated for a minor one...

Frank

It better be a good change. TAP's aircraft some of the best looking among the major airlines of the world, regardless if the locals are tired of the look.

News are slowly coming on the new livery of TAP:

TP A310-300 CS-TEX 'Joao XXI' will be the first aircraft in the new livery. It will enter TAP ME hangar on the 13th Jan for a C-check and will come out wearing the new colours. We hope to catch a glipse of it as soon as possible.

As for the livery itsellf, it is a very well guarded secret, but rumours at this point are of a livery like the new LanChile or like BMI. I will post back as soon as news are available.

Here are pics of the aircraft:

NNããaaooo!!!

I like their current scheme!!
Hope it won't get too much worse...

I would not like a aeroflot style scheme at all!!!
And no eurowhite!

I really hope this will be a change for the better, but lately airlines have been coming up with rather bad CI's...

To bad... Just loved their red/green stripes... But then again, maybe they'll keep em anyway...

We'll see....

Abraço, Patrick

Hmmmm... Don't know how these news escaped me... I have never been a fan of TAP liveries... I suppose it's hard to have anything as beautiful as LanChile's but I am anxious to see what's coming up. As TAP joins one of the main international alliances isn´t it supposed to slowly abandon its national colours? Please post the news as you get them PhotoLPPT!

Hi!

I've been out of this forum for a while due to lack of Internet ( we get too much addicted..... ) but it's good to be back. I also got that information a few days ago and I think it was about time TAP change that livery. For those that didn't knew TAP adopted this livery in 1979 when they received a brand new 727-200 Advanced from Boeing, it was CS-TBW, so more than 25 years ago!!!! Before that it was in 1962 when TAP received the brand new Caravelle VI-R. I'm looking forward to see how that comes and maybe TAP will be the one to drop the all white panorama that we have lately! I know that those guys can really come out with something really awesome!
regards

My guess is that it will be something in the line of ElAl´s recent make-over. Lots of white with a red-green wavy cheatline. Hope not though.

More than colors TAP should be doing something about their horrid delays and cancellations. On the other hand, they fit very well into Star being not among the most punctual airlines around Smile/happy/getting dizzy
