When I went to DTW to pick up people for a funeral last Monday, while we were trying to get to the McNamara (or however you spell it) terminal, I saw some charter planes. One was in Apple Vacations livery, another one was in FunJet livery, and a few were unknowns. What are all of them?

There is a group call Nomads I believe that run charters out of the Berry terminal. Could also have been Rose Bowl charters.

Nomads is a travel group and they have there own terminal they do not do charters for the public.

The Funjet and Apple planes run charters for the tour companies, Apple Vacations and FunJet Vacations, DTW is a big charter market.

That's right, don't Nomads use a 727?

I believe the aircraft painted in Funjet and Apple Vacation liveries are operated by Ryanair International.

Funjet is Ryanair International or could be Trans Meridian also, though Apple is USA3000 the airline they own.

I flew USA3000 from DTW to FLL last March. I was very impressed with this airline. Leather seats, movie and a nice meal.

Luv2fly -- Funjet is using Ryanair and TransMeridian this season, but Apple, in addition to USA 300, is also using RyanAir on some of their charter destinations from DTW. Apple is also using Condor from DTW.

ElectraBob are the Condor flights aircraft leased to USA3000 and flown with USA3000 crew, or Condor planes with Condor crews? I know USA3000 during the winter season leases some extra aircraft for the season, though they operate them with there own crews.

When I flew into DTW on December 20 there was a Condor 753 parked near the Berry terminal (yellow tail) and an Apple Vacations aircraft that appeared to be in Thomas Cook colors along with a couple I think Futura aircraft- blue tail and yellow star and there were two USA 3000 a320 parked at the gates. I have been checking flytecomm throughout the week and seen a couple Condor 753s on runs to and from Mexican vacation destinations.

As for Rosebowl charters, Northwest sent a couple 744s full of fans to LAX from DTW. They returned sunday afternoon and early monday morning. I thought that last year Northwest sent several 744s and DC-10s to LAX with UofM fans, but not sure. I am not sure what the UofM football team or band used, but I think they may have flown out of YIP.

I saw a Champion Air 727 at DTW last summer. They're a charter carrier, right?

Luv2fly -- I can't answer your question about the Condor aircraft possibly being leased to USA 3000.

Here is who is flying what for Apple out of DTW this winter......

Acapulco...USA3000 (Fr)

Aruba...Condor (Su, Mo)

Cancun...Ryan Int'l (Su, We, Th, Fr, Sa)

Cozumel...USA3000 (Sa)

Montego Bay...USA3000 (Sa)

Puerto Plata....Condor (Fr)....USA3000 (Mo)

Punta Cana....Condor (Sa)....USA3000 (We)

Puerto Vallarta...USA3000 (Th, Su)

St. Maarten...Ryan Int'l (Mo)

Ixtapa...Ryan Int'l (Sa)

Looks like Apple has dropped Cabo San Lucas (most people can't afford that place)  Smile
