Does anyone out there think CO will acquire any additional B777 in the long term in spite of the recent B7E7 order..?

They have one more 772ER on option... who knows.

Operationally, they're a prime candidate for the 772LR.... fiscally, they might not be that hot on it.

The China routes are going to be awarded soon, CO is in excellent position to win both awards for Beijing in '05 and Shanghai in '06.

They have one 777-200ER option remaining which they intend to excersise at some point otherwise they probably would have not renewed the option.

One or two additional 777-200ERs are possible near term, as ConcordeBoy stated they are an excellent canidate for the 777-200LR. Perhaps through a lease, 6-9 777-200LRs dedicated to Asian flying.

Let's not forget African flying... which they could do quite well from both New York, and especially Houston, with such aircraft

Unless were talking South Africa they would not need the 777-200LR for flights to Africa, 767s would be fine for Western Africa.

CO will definitely need some more long haulers if their new routes succeed like they have been. Aren't they using at least 4 a day for their EWR-TLV route?

It'd be nice to have the 772C or A345 to South Africa just to avoid going through avoid the stop. As it is, unless you're on the East Coast, you're screwed.

I would jump ship from AA flying and sign up for CO Miles for sure! What are the chances CO would apply to DOT for the rights to fly to S. Africa?

Well SAA flew to Houston briefly before Apartheid killed it in the 80s.
Houston has the scheduled charter to West Africa now (Malabo and Luanda IIRC) but ff anyone can make it work I'm sure CO could.

IIRC, Houston has the 3rd highest S.African O&D in the USA after New York and Miami
