Back when the NHL was actually playing, does anyone know how the Islanders got to their away games and what airport they flew out of? I know the Red Wings have their own DC9 but is this the case for most NHL teams?

IIRC, they used Farmingdale out on Long Island...runway could handle the DC-9 series, and it was convinient to Hempstead, which is where Nassau Colisieum is.

DeltAirlines you said it all.  Big thumbs up

Airplanes are only as good as the people who fly&fix them.

So Midwest Airlines out of Farmingdale? Or do they have their own plane?

They have used not only the YX DC9-30, but also MD-81 equipment from FRG. I think the size of the aircraft used just usually depends on what YX has on hand (unless the length of the flight necessitates using an MD-81), I've seen them use M81 to BOS, but also use D93 to FLL. On flights to the west coast, they usually fly an MD-81 and refuel at MCI.

The runway also has handled 727-200's, A320's, 757's, and C5A Galaxy.

I am getting my pilot's license out of KFRG and often see charter 737s and the like on the ramp. My instructor tells me KFRG is often used by various sport teams as an inconspicuous way to get to NY.
