Luton was battered by 110kts winds last night and all aircraft had to be turned to face the wind so they couldnt be damaged, took quiet a bit of effort, planes everywhere at 2am this morning, on stands, on the taxiways!!

EK017 at MAN (apparently a 773 today?  Smile) diverted to LHR after two missed approaches due to strong winds. As did many, many others but managed to land safely after a couple of go arounds.

Looks like NCL is operating as normal, the odd 30-50 minute delay, but the forecast is that the winds are going to get stronger tomorrow. NCL is normally the first to csncel of delay flights. Lots of LS flights at LBA are delayed around 7 hours.

Hi, I'm new!!
This morning(8/01/05) i was going to London for the day on a bmi flight from MME to LHR. When the guy was attaching the stairs to the aircraft for its 1st flight of the day the wind was so bad that they toppled on top of him crushing him!! There were 2 fire trucks and 2 ambulances there but all we heard from the terminal was a huge crash (I thought the engine had fallen off in the wing the way the A320 was shaking! G-MIDT i think) anyway just wondering if anyone had any news on that guy. The flight got cancelled eventually due to the wind.

Burberry753,

Welcome to A.Net.

It has been really bad up here though. Seems as if everything was on time, or thereabouts.

Working in ORK on friday night could not load any of our cargo flights [DHL,TNT or UPS] because the wind was so strong. Some of my co workers tryed to put a set of steps up to the DHL 757 and had to give up. The A/C had to overnight in Cork.

I'm not surprised at any delays at ncl coz when driving from ponteland to kingston park 2 trees down, n when driving to Carlisle on A69 road flooded and closed, and snowy, on M6 to Lancaster saw 7 overturned lorries!
Last night I was worried our tree would blow down, woke up to see our fence blew down, I would blame any pilot for delaying/ canceling a flight in this weather, its horrendous!
