What EY need to do fast is to upgrade their business class from the hopeless 46 inch seat pitch to at least 55-60 in order to effectively compete with EK-QR-GF worldwide. Their F class seat pitch is 74 inches which is OK but EKs-GFs exceed 80+!!!
I think that with the delivery of the new A 332s/A340s/B773ERs, we will see a total makeover of their premium cabins just like EK is doing with their new A 340NGs and B 773ERs.

They ordered -
...
4 x A346
...
5 x 773ER
And Why the hell did they order the 773ER AND the A346? That doesn't make any sense when creating a new fleet. They are optimezed for the same mission profile.
It looks to me a little bit like a child composing a new fleet

They ordered the B 773ERs because they needed long haul high density aircraft ASAP and Boeing said that the B 773ERs would be delivered one by one within 1 year of the order being place. If Boeing said that it would take 3-4 years for the B 773ERs to be delivered then I dont think so EY would have ordered them.
But at the end of the day, it was good that EY ordered the B 773ERs because now with the flexible B 777-A 340 fleet, it will enable them in the future due to their dual long haul fleet to bargain for higher discounts from both aircraft manufacturers for both types as well as future variants such as A 350s and B 7E7s.

I flew Etihad LGW-AUH-BKK and back over xmas/new year.
Flew on 1 x A340 and 3 x A332
The IFE on the A330's is still branded as "TAM" (which is where they got them 2nd hand).
In flight service was quite good, with lots of drinks service (alcohol is served), pre flight water and hot towels, 8 page printed menu's in Y class, with 3 x meal choice on each sector, we even had proper metal knives and forks in Y class on the AUH-BKK sectors.
Movie choice on the IFE was pretty poor, none of which was AVOD, with only six english channels cycled.
I normally fly VS, but the whole Etihad expericence/service was nowhere near as smooth as you would find on VS.
For example at LGW there was (apparently) a head count problem, and we sat on the tarmac for an hour whilst they sorted it, with no cabin announcements.
All in all a good effort for such a young airline, and it will be interesting to see how there product compares wheh they get their own brand new shiney planes....

geeez..the skytrax website reviewers really didn't give Etihad the best responses, maybe they should focus on their service as opposed to becoming the next super air carrier of the planet.......
i think i'll stick with EK......they have a phenom IFE, but their seats in cattle class suck on the 340-500's..not bad on the 777's though

Jacobin777...I suggest you change from EY-EK and fly QATAR AIRWAYS A 332s and A 333s....MUCH MUCH BETTER THAN ANY ARAB AIRLINE and is one of the worlds 3 only 5 star airlines.
My friends flew EK in the summer LHR-KHI via DXB and this Dec LHR-DOH-KHI and said that QR can beat EK anyday of the week when it comes to cabin crew service, seat size in Y class but is on par with IFE with comparing EKs B 777s and QRs A 333s.
