We all know that the A380 is a little saftig/heavy/curvy but it seems to me that Airbus will slim the plane down by the time first deliveries take place. In the same vein, what performance indicators were there before the MD-11 first flew that may have pointed to its performance shortfalls? When the MD-11 was rolled out, were there any problems that were known before the first flight that would have foretold its demise? Was it too heavy as well? Or was this all discovered post first flight?

I apologize, I thought you were comparing the two based on performance shortcomings, and I wanted to point out that the CEO for Airbus announced that all performance expectations on the A380 will be met.

I personally think that the A380 is going to be a Monster,(In respect to size and success),incredible piece of metal,With respect to boeing (and they deserve a lot),I think that Airbus is hands down the better company.
