Hello,
Do you think airlines will allow passengers to go from one deck to another while the plane is in the air? Or will it be restricted for reasons such as safety?

Thanks,
FDH

I would suspect the answer would be "no" if a configuration of the upper being "first class" pax & the lower being "economy" pax. Mixing may be deemed out of the question.

Having said that I haven't seen any A380 cabin plans so my assumption may well be rubbish.

Nevertheless a good question "FDH".

Between upstairs and downstairs economy would probably be okay, as you may have friends in other parts of the aircraft who weren't able to sit next to you.

Between classes (ie economy and first or business) is a no-no in general, not just the A380.

Usual regulations about number of standing pax queuing per toilet would probably still apply, for those airlines that choose to do so.

I thought the top deck was to be a mixture of different classes. Seems to be a lot of seats for an all first class up top.

I can't see why you'd need to, but at the same time I can't see them restricting it either. Especially if you are separated from your family somehow, I guess it could almost be possible that is encouraged with the real risk of 'DVT' the extra exercise would be welcomed!

I can't see any real safety reasons, obviously you can't really spend your whole time travelling up and down the stairs, but going for a brisk walk every hour or so can't be frowned upon!

I switched decks several times on LH planes just for a little walk - when flying F, there are not too many restrictions  Smile

so i don't see a reason for restricting it, on the other hand, due to the full size upper deck, no real need to.

cheers,

ben

Well of course - if you need to walk between the showers and the duty-free shopping arcade on board...  Acting devilish

I`d expect there to be either a F or J section on the lower deck at the front since it will probably be quieter and so they can accomadate any premium fare paying passengers who are 'mobility challenged'.

Pure speculation.  Smile

And the front will be furtherest from the noisy bowling alley...  Wink/being sarcastic

What would be the reason to prohibit this ?  Confused

I have never seen any airline prohibiting changing deck on 747 (the class segregation set aside, but this also applies to single deck planes).

Avoid AFKL 773 with their 3-4-3 config in Y ! http://my.flightmemory.com/TGVTGV

Why would you need to change decks if the top one looks the same as the bottom?

Well i walked downstairs in the middle of a CX flight. Ok i was travelling in J but i didnt see any problem pax switching deck even in Y, as long as they're walking in the same class.

Curiousity...When I am walking from my economy seat in the back of the upper deck to the bowling alley in the back of the lower deck will there only be the one staircase or is there a rear set. Don't want my bowling fashion to upset any J classers.

What I want to know is if the Yab-Yum club is going to put airborne brothels in KLM's A380s or even perhaps an airborne 'red light district'? Airborne 'coffee bar' anyone????  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Centrair,

The A380 has two staircases, a straight one up front, and a curved one at the rear.

Will the A380 have an Elevator that passengers can take too? And how wide are these stairs going to be?

It could be promoted. Take a walking tour around the aircraft and ease off those dvt's.

would suspect F to stay main deck nose for easier enplaning and deplaning....while airports are modifying jetways the main deck will be the normal access area. Wonder about center of gravity....that many seats upper deck....if they were full and main deck Y was half full if there would be a problem?
