Continental Airlines to Inaugurate New Service at Montgomery Regional Airport
Jet Flights to Expand Choices Throughout U.S., Canada, Central and South
MONTGOMERY, Ala., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL), the City of Montgomery, the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce and the Montgomery Airport Authority today announced the airline will inaugurate daily nonstop service linking Montgomery Regional Airport with the airline's Houston hub at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

The twice-daily service, beginning May 2, will connect the South-Central Alabama region with dozens of cities throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Latin America. Houston, the nation's fourth-largest city, is home to some of the world's largest energy firms, Johnson Space Center, four major sports teams and the world's largest rodeo. At Bush Intercontinental Airport, Continental offers more than 650 daily flights to more than 175 destinations worldwide.

The schedule is as follows:

Houston-Montgomery Montgomery-Houston

Departure Arrival Departure Arrival
3:35 p.m. 5:19 p.m. 6:30 a.m. 8:24 a.m. Except Sunday
7:15 p.m. 9:02 p.m. 9 a.m. 10:54 a.m. Sunday only
5:50 p.m. 7:44 p.m.

"Continental's new service between Montgomery and Houston will make travel easier, faster and more convenient," said Trish Winebrenner, Continental's managing director of sales and marketing. "Travelers in this economically diverse region have lived for too long with insufficient service to the West and Southwest. Our new flights will facilitate travel to these regions, as well as to Central and South America. We appreciate the business community and local government investment and support that make this announcement possible."

"We are excited to announce this new west-bound service from Montgomery Regional Airport," said Carl Barker, chairman of the board for the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. "Continental is a leader in the air service industry, and we are proud to have them as a part of the Montgomery business community," said Barker.

Increased air service and improved facilities at Montgomery Regional Airport have been top priorities for the Chamber in its drive to create jobs and economic growth throughout Montgomery and the River Region, Barker said. With the expansion of the airport terminal and facilities, new air service, and the location of international transportation and logistics companies like Panalpina (announced last week), Montgomery stands on the brink of unprecedented opportunities for business and industrial expansion.

"For centuries transportation has been crucial to Montgomery's economic vitality," said Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright. "Today's announcement is a major milestone, as Montgomery citizens and business executives travel across the country and around the globe for commerce and leisure. If Montgomery is going to thrive in today's global economy, it is imperative that our city has an expanded first-class airport, with flights that provide convenient international connections. We welcome Continental to our community."

Customers in Montgomery will receive Continental's industry-leading services and amenities, including:

-- The ability to book flights, check in, redeem frequent flyer awards
and more at continental.com;
-- OnePass frequent flyer miles for every trip;
-- EliteAccess benefits for business travelers and elite-level frequent
flyers, featuring priority check-in, boarding, seating and baggage
-- Connections in Houston to more than 150 destinations in North America,
Europe, Latin America and Asia;
-- Online check-in up to 24 hours before departure and automated self-
service check-in at every airport Continental serves in the U.S.

Montgomery travelers returning from international travel will find connections in Houston eased by a new customs and immigration facility at Bush Intercontinental Airport scheduled to open Jan. 25. Boasting the largest such facility in the United States, adjacent to Continental's new Terminal E, Houston's airport is able to process international travelers more quickly than competing airports.

Continental Airlines is the world's sixth-largest airline with more than 3,000 daily departures throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. Continental serves 153 domestic and 119 international destinations -- more than any other airline in the world -- and nearly 400 additional points are served via SkyTeam alliance airlines. With 41,000 employees, the airline has hubs serving New York, Houston, Cleveland and Guam, and carries approximately 55 million passengers per year. In 2004, Continental earned awards and critical acclaim for both its operation and its corporate culture. FORTUNE ranks Continental one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in America, an honor it has earned for six consecutive years, and also ranks Continental as the top airline in its Most Admired Global Companies in 2004. The carrier won major awards at the 2004 OAG Airline of the Year Awards including "Airline of the Year," "Best Airline Based in North America" and "Best Executive/Business Class." We are still waiting here in SPS. Heck, we'd take a B1900 if it meant some competition for AA.
