How soon are a/c going to be equipped with broadband internet which will allow all classes on a a/c to surf the net during flight? If this is even feasible, how costly will it be for airlines? Will sure make those 18 hr flights go by alot faster. All comments are welcome!

I believe that there are certain routes on which Lufthansa aircraft operate using the Boeing Connexxion for inflight internet.
I don't know of any other airlines that have in flight wi-fi or similar broadband internet service available.
Personally, I think it should stop at the provision of PTV's and in-flight radio. There is going to be the constant clickety-click of laptop keyboards, and with the way the rumour mill is going, cellphones may be allowed too. Imagine the constant ringing and beeping (and also the way some people speak REALLY loudly on a phone) of mobiles through the flight (depending on where you are - Oceanic flight should for the larger part be free from mobile noise). I think the prohibitively expensive cost of the seat-phones keeps their use down to the minimum. I have never seen one being used in flight...
Many people will differ in the opionion, but for a 10 or so hour long flight, I am sure you can manage without the internet or mobile phone. Maybe they should bring out patches (or gum) for internet addicts and mobile/sms addicts. Line them up on your arm next to the ciggie patch.. hehehe
