You will most probably be entertained if you asked for a visit while the aircraft is still at the gate and doors hasn't been closed yet. After arrival when the aircraft is at the gate will also be fine. Done that many times on US carriers.

OPNLguy has got it spot on. On the ground some flight crews may let you enter depending on how busy they are I guess. But in the air it is now prohibited for anybody to enter the flight deck on most if not all of the worlds airlines, and certainly American ones.
