Can someone explain the news below ?!?! Nice is not on the Zurich-Atlanta route ?
78 passengers only !!!! That's a very bad load factor !
Zurich-Atlanta flight re-routed to Nice after fuel leak
NICE, France, Jan 19 (AFP) -
A US Delta Airlines plane with 78 passengers on board made an unscheduled stopover in Nice Wednesday after a fuel leak, airport officials said.
The Boeing 767 en route to Zurich, Switzerland to Atlanta, Georgia jettisoned part of its fuel off the nearby Mediterranean resort of Cannes before landing safely.
All passengers were to be put on a Nice-New York flight Thursday morning and then on to their final destination, airport management said.

Well, it is in the middle of winter and in the middle of the week. The period between mid-January and mid-February is probably THE slowest travel period of the year...Both AA and CO have reduced frequencies on their ZRH-NYC runs during this period as well....

maybe they were leaking fuel, and needed to have it fixed. Longway to run out of gas right?

I noticed the Skymiles news Delta is trying to get more people on the market between ATL and ZRH to get double mileages. My friend is going to fly in March. Maybe ATL-ZRH is not good market. I don't know why. I'm surprised that 78 pax Delta is hurting to expenses fuel burning on a long range!

Strange. Wonder why they decided on NCE? It's way south of the great circle route. Even with a southerly route back to ATL, I don't think that they would stray that far south.

The flight originated in ZRH, not ATL. They flew them ZRH-NCE-JFK.
Hey Obama, keep the change! I want my dollar back.

Ok...I get it...I read this:
The Boeing 767 en route to Zurich, Switzerland to Atlanta, Georgia
it said en route to Zurich, but it was obviously a typo. So, that plane is probably being ferried to ATL and the pax on the NCE-JFK flight were reaccomidated to ATL and beyond I guess.

The incident happened on DL 67 from ZRH to ATL yesterday and was diverted to NCE. The pax. are being put on a regular NCE-JFK flight today (Thurs Jan 20) and then onward from there.
