As of this time Port Authority are still working on the skid and JFK is having a whiteout. I doubted the runway will be reopening any time soon

It was a Polar Air Cargo 747-200. They showed video of the plane on channel 7 Eyewitness News.

Well the airport is basically closed so the runway is basically not in-use anyway. It is really bad here.

There was a period of time right after the incident where JFK was closed, but they quickly moved all departures over to 4L, and that is where they are currently departing. There hasn't been an arrival in a while, though.

Anybody know more detaisl about this?
Registration? Flight number? Heck, was is deparitng or landing? Where was it going to/from?
Did it go off the end of the runway or off to the side? If off the end, was it caught in the arrestor bed?

Pretty sure it was departing, and from what I've heard it seems to have gotten itself stuck in some mud off the side of the runway. I don't know any further details besides that.

I know a couple of the United and American departures at SFO were affected. Had to go park in some remote location of the airport waiting for a time. Don't know how long delays are going.

I know a FedEx flight had some kind of incident, but that's all I know.

25 Notbluejet: i've heard that it was a FEDEX plane. dont know any other info yet. will try to update after i talk to a few people too cold to go out and look lol.
27 Newark777: You can't just tow those things out of the arrestor beds, and I'm sure a 747 would sink in that thing pretty far. They initially said they would have
28 Mikephotos: Looking at the pics in detail, looks like it actually missed the arrestor bed and is just stuck in mud/snow. Maybe it clipped the front/forward sectio
29 Petazulu: Is that plane still there? I wonder how they will move it? A crane? I would think a tug would never get the traction to haul it out of there...
30 Newark777: Looking at the pics in detail, looks like it actually missed the arrestor bed and is just stuck in mud/snow I didn't even think of that, I just assume
31 Meister808: Well the story is that the pilot didn't know he was off the runway until the airplane stopped, so I would guess that the drift off the side of the run
