Every once in a while on Flytecomm I notice a Chautauqua flight going into YIP. There was one today arriving from IND. YIP is not a passenger airport. Anyone know what those flights are for?

Is YIP close to Ann Arbor? Chautaqua brought the UW Basketball team back from Ann Arbor tonight after a game against the Wolverines.
EDIT: This is the UW Basketball charter flight #965. It flew IND-YIP-MSN and now is on its way to MSP.

I was thinking some kind of sports charter but for some reason I though the game was in Wisconsin. I don't suppose those tall guys have a whole lot of legroom in an RJ.

I don't know how those poor kids do it..... I'm only 6'0" tall and barely can squeeze into a ERJ. LOL.... The game was at Michigan, not sure where the plane has went since it left MSN for MSP.

While YIP is not a "passenger" airport like Detroit, it DOES on occasion have pax activity, usually coporate or charter. Most of YIP's ops are cargo.

Now that I think about it, the U of Wisconsin uses YIP for all trips to play Michigan. Michigan State they fly into LAN.
