I would appreciate your feedback/comments /criticisms on flying JFK-HKG-JFK on CX's A340-600 in First and LAXHKGLAX on CX's B747-400 in First? Is the service equivalent and difference just the aircraft? Flying in the nose of the B744 is always cool. I have flown AF's A340-300 in J and it was very nice. Looking at the flight times am I correct that most of the flying time, in both directions out of JFK is daylight? Almost all of the flying time, LAX-HKG is darkness... Thanks.

I flew out of JFK to HKG on CX last July and as far as remembered about 2/3 of the flight was daylight. It started turning dark when the aircraft entered Chinese airspace.
However in winter time it's quite different. I flew EWR to HKG on CO (same routing, transpolar) and left EWR at a similar time, at around 4 in the afternoon. It got dark very quickly but then as we approached North Pole, it got brightened up again! Same as before it got dark again as soon as entering China. So witnessing sunset twice within 10 hours - how great is that!!
