An strange passenger was found on an NZ flight from BNE to AKL last night, with a snake joining passengers in economy class. The flight was about an hour out of BNE when a passenger found the stowaway up the back of the cabin.

Lucky it wasn't venomous, I wonder how it got there? Perhaps when loading the 744? Although it's not hard for a passenger to smuggle it on. Just put it in your jacket that you're wearing when walking through the metal detector.

Seen a rat run down the stairs right after the door opened on PIA once and Air India had a same incident at BKK with rats. Maybe it was Indian Air, but my friend was working the flight and they found the rat. I can keep going on my experiences of even finding roach infestations behind food carts on another carrier etc.

Does this remind anyone else of a certain Simpsons episode? Neither the animal nor the country were exactly the same, but they were both close...

Most probably the snake was hidden inside the catering or cleaning trucks and slithered in while the a/c was being prepared for the return sector.

If that was me I would freak out. I would not sit down for the rest of the flight. I HATE HATE HATE snakes.

I imagine this is of some concern to New Zealand's agricultural authorities. They are very sensitive about bringing non native animals into NZ. I don't believe there are any snakes native to NZ and one getting estabilished could be very dangerous to their eco system.
