Today the (27th) Air France's flight is an A330. Normally it is an A340 this time of the year. I have seen a 777 or 747-400 used before. First time I have seen the A330 used. I believe there was a post a few weeks ago about Air France bringing it in.

Anyway, just a heads up to you spotters. Also, the weather is not to good. Storm is approaching so they are on the southeast plan, departing the 10s.

Last time I didn't have my camera.

Been looking out for that everyday these past weeks. Nothing!

And on the single day I don't check the 330's back! #$%^& ! ! !

Thanks for the headsup anyways Sfo212.

This is a good example of how interesting for an airline can be the "famous" commonality between 2,3 or 4 a/c !

There was certainly a problem with A340 programmed for the flight ( technical, or delayed somewhere else in the world).
By sending an A332 to SFO , AF didn't have any problem of CREW qualification etc... for the flight back to CDG.

If AF is flying the A330-200 to SFO, this really must be the low season for flights between the two cities.  Smile

I was just thinking that, Ray. I mean, I'd have not wanted to be checking-in that flight if the loads were full for a A340. DBC city!

Anyone know how booked the flight was originally and if they were able to accomodate everyone, despite the losss in capacity?

A change of a/c of that kind doesn't have to do with a capacity adjustement !

That was probably the last solution available or a flight cancellation.

The A332 capacity at AF is 6P / 42J / 163 Y
The A343 capacity at AF is 6P / 42J / 204 Y

So even if the flight was fully booked, it's "only" 41 PAX who had to be re-routed

It's better than cancelling the whole flight !

I live only a few blocks away from Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco (THE hotspot for tourists).....I walk along The Bay and by The Wharf quite frequently, its been a bit slow lately......maybe they aren't filling 'em up as they do rest of the season......

In San Francisco during the winter season, while it does not get very cold, it does tend to rain quite a bit, which could put dampers on taking a trip....and it does get windy too...

Jacob is right. Its the off season. Its raining and clud alot. There are a few downgrades during the winter.

LH MUC-SFO A343 from A346
AF CDG-SFO 744 to 777 (spring/fall) to A340

We also get some charter one in a while during the high season:

Belair 763, and this year Icelandair 763

there are probably a few other changes I can't think of this early in the morning

well......I just saw AF's 340 rotate in front of me (I was at AA gate 64 this afternoon-Friday, 01-28-05) at around 4:00 p.m. from 28R.....it was a beautiful scene, especially with the clouds and rainbow in the backround....  Smile..maybe they just had a low booking on that flight and they changed it.....regardless, its still slow at The Wharf...

Anyway, SFO will have seen the whole long-haul AF fleet type in less than a year !!!
