Yeah, it really costs more than $10 roundtrip to make sure I didn't leave a butter knife in my carry on.

I agree that security is important, but this closing the barn door after the animals escaped, and typical bureaucratic inefficiency is ridiculous.

I hope Southwest pitches a fit about this, along with all the other airlines.

Taxes go into the general fund, and someone will find a way to re-direct this money towards their own pork project. It's been proven time and time again.

And once a tax is started, it NEVER goes away. Look at your phone bill sometime - taxes begun in the 1930's are still around.
