This is for all the professional pilots out there: in your experience, do the likes of the MD-80, DC-9 & 717 handle markedly different from other twin jets, like the 737, or the 757? Their outward appearance would make me think that they handle very differently, esp with the wings so far back, and the most weight probably towards the rear, with the engines mounted at the rear.... maybe I am wrong. If so, what are these differences, and which planes do you find easier to fly?....
I heard sometime on A.net that someone heard from a CO pilot that the 753 is "more stable" than the 752... whatever that means. hehe.... any comments?

I suppose wing mounted engines are bigger and heavier than rear engines. of course, pilots like it bigger and heavier (better performance?)

Maybe try posting your thread in the Tech/Ops forum. I had a similar inquiry a long time ago. Perhaps some of the responses (there weren't many) may prove useful... If you feel like searching throught the archives.
