AA - Still More Room In Coach?

I haven't flown on AA for a while and heard that they have reversed their 'more room in coach' practice as a cost cutting measure since 9/11. Is this true?

I flew on BA LHR-PHX 10 days ago and the seats and pitch were much smaller than I have previously had on AA. If I hadn't had an empty seat next to me it would have been a very uncomfortable 11 hrs.

not true, I was on a MD80 a few weeks ago and I proudly saw the sign labeled on overhead compartments announcing that it was More Room Throughout Coach, like #90 of 117?. They are still in the process of getting rid of it.

Seatguru is old and outdated, not impressed with the site.

Regards.

I have yet to see an MD-80 or 737 in the new configuration with more seats, and I work those aircraft on a regular basis. I have not even seen a timeline for when this project will be complete. I don't even know if it has started.

Seat Guru us current right now, showing the MRTC configuration on the MD-80, 738 and 763. So, yes, AA still has MRTC, but it won't be for long. I suspect by summer the additional seats will be added.

(Edited for additional information.)

In AMR's '04 Q4 earnings report, they gave the following timeline as to when MRTC will be removed.

737/SP80/767: June '05
777: December '05

(MRTC has already been removed from 757s and AB6s.)

I was on three MD-80s over the weekend and two had MRTC, one didn't.

That is somewhat odd as all the S80's still have MRTC. Also adding to this the 763's will be reconfigured with lie flat business class seats...I am correct right?

My understanding is that the 757s and A300s had the 2 rows that were removed in 2000 put back in.

The MD-80s/737s/767s/777s are only getting 1 more row of coach put back in. So it won't be MRTC, but they won't as cramped as they were before 2000.

I flew on an MD-80 in December and in January, and both still had MRTC. My only question is how does AA sell seats during the transition period?
