I have been an Elite member with Aeroplan for a number of years....While most of my flights are within Canada, it seems that with Air canada's fares, I can never ever qualify again after they killed the Econo fares.
A one way from Edmonton to Toronto can be as low as $99 (T, N or E class) which doesn't qualify for status miles...
On the other hand, it will cost 282 one way to be able to get 50% of the miles flown and be considered as status.....
Now get this, you can fly one way from LAX to YYZ for much cheaper than than $282 and still get full status points....Even worse, you could fly round trip to LHR from YYZ for $600 (just as much as the YEG flight) and get thousands of status miles....

I am quite pissed off at that policy too as it is ridiculous. I fly 80% within Canada and 15% to US and only 5% International and I get screwed as it is always dicey to reach Elite by the end of December.
I can understand the Tango fare policy, but they should offer full status miles to existing Prestige, Elite and Super Elite members and mileage bonuses for the Latitude Freedom and Executive Class fares.
I just checked my Aeroplan balance and noticed I didn't get 100% status miles on my recent YYZ-SXM flight? I bet the Caribbean is 75% or something stupid like that.
Smarten up AC!
