Hey, all. According to articles in today's El Nuevo Día and El Vocero newspapers (in Spanish), Cape Air is planning to fly from Mayagüez, Puerto Rico's Eugenio María de Hostos Airport to San Juan thus replacing American Eagle on the route.
American Eagle had planned to discontinue the route today (Feb. 3rd), but since AE is the only airline currently at MAZ and the MAZ-SJU route is an EAS route, AE won't be able to leave until a replacement is found.
Anyway, according to Cape Air's marketing manager, Cape Air's already in talks with the Ports Authority and has the backing of Mayagüez's mayor, though the mayor is asking for the fares to be lower than what they currently are.
I did a search on AA.com, and a one way fare from MAZ to SJU is $129.50 (a 76-mile hop.)
