We've all been hearing about Virgin America for quite some time now, but it doesn't appear they even have AIRCRAFT ordered yet.

Any word on when, if at all, they'll start operations?

There was news 2 weeks ago that it will be delayed and they cannot find financing currently.

Spring 2006 at the earliest R. There is no movement at all at the building space they leased here near my house. Nothing at all.

And yet management at AS is in full "batten-down-the-hatches" mode because of them.

Don't get me wrong, I understand preparing for a threat - but shouldn't there actually BE a threat first?  Nuts

There might not be a Virgin America. There are some rumors that Branson is in advanced negotiations to buy the remains of US. There are threads on this matter here at airliners.net as well as other websites. Frankly I will believe any of it when it happens. Just too, too many hurdles to jump on any of these scenarios.
