NA @ LHR?

This can not be correct? I thought that only two US airlines ever served LHR at the same time. In '72 that would have be PA & TW Am I missing something? Is this an Interchange with PA?

In the other thread somebody said NA never served LHR, but they were wrong. National started MIA-LHR with DC-8s around 1969.

National was grandfathered in pre Bermuda II in 1977- they ironically enough are the only US airline that served London and NEVER flew to Gatwick. Miami-London Heathrow began in 1970 and ran until the PA merger in 1980.

I should mention NA was the only airline grandfathered into Bermuda II- only 3 US carriers served London in 1977. So after the PA/NA merger, LHR was restricted solely to PA, TW and their corporate succesors which are now UA and AA.

Perhaps you are thinking of Delta's interchange with PA. DA 747s and PA 747s would fly ATL-IAD-LHR. The interchange went from the late 60s-77.
