According to CLO airport personnel CO has been looking at office and counter space at Cali´s Alfonso Bonilla Aragon airport. It seems they are interested in opening IAH - CLO route sometime soon.

Indeed CO has applied to the American Department of Transportation for the route Houston to Cali. It would start on daily from 7th July. In its application, Continental wants the option of serving this route in combination with Medellin.

Here is a previous thread about the subject

Hasn't Colombia turned down CO's application for Medellin in the past? Any reason to think Colombia has changed its mind?

I love long German words like 'Freundschaftsbezeigungen'.

CO had intended to do EWR to MDE/CLO, but the company itself decided not to persue the application after the general downturn in demand that followed 9/11.

It thinks it is now in a position to make a profitable run from Houston. Colombia is guided by the bilateral agreement, but in general it is open to more carriers serving the country. Examples are Air Madrid and Air Plus Comet from Madrid. AA had a delay in serving MDE, but has been doing so for a couple of years now.

Interesting for CLO as the holiday season will arrive with this flight plus the direct AV to MAD.
