*********

As and when they get their own aircraft. Proposals are leing in the ministers table since time immemorial! Meanwhile these rust buckets (and they are indeed rust buckets) continue to fly . The youngest of these gems have a mere 55000 cycles while the oldest has 63000. And the youngest one is a mere 23 years old! The way politicians were talking big afer a crash of a 737 in Patna a few years back, it seemed that the new aircraft would have been in the Indian skies in a matter of months! But then politicians are well known for shooting their mouths off - so nothing new!

May be Alliance Air should hire the Jet Airways head honcho as consultant/adviser/god father or whatever. That seems to be the only way for anything and everything to move with the minister and the government nowadays. Also Government of India should make it mandatory that the number of hours/age of the aircraft be displayed prominently in front of every aircraft along with the registration number and also this vital information be made mandatory as part of the safety briefing in every flight!

Then may be Patel Saab will really understand what is meant by "Crappy State of Indian Aviation".

According to sources, the airline is looking at leasing in A319's by Nov-2005.

According to sources,

Could you be a little more precise? According to other sources, they were supposed to already be inducted.. - or has some corrupt official intervened?  Nuts

Todays Indian express, Times of India etc. ATR pilots at CD have gone on strike demanding pay parity with B737-200 pilots. The airline was dangling the A319 carrot in front of them.

Rajeev. The Term Rustbuckets can be applied to Age,Not Airworthiness of the Aircraft. Is there anything to suggest that the Alliance B732s are unsafe or Unairworthy.
The layman has a false concept that Age is related to Safety,Its not.
An Aircraft released after a Major check is as good as the 1st major check cleared Aircraft.

By providing Age of Aircraft on information to Pax would only lead them to think differently as they are not aware of the Airworhiness checks involved.

I Agree Alliance needs A319s,But that does not make the B732 dangerous from Airworthiness Point of View.

Mel, correct me if I am wrong but wasnt the famous Aloha incident (where the top blew off!) linked to good old geriatrics??

Rajeev The Aloha Incident was caused by Corrosion Pillowing the Lap Joint rivets thru.Aloha Mx did not Detect that during Routine Checks.
Subsequent to that Incident,ADs were issued to reinforce the Lap Joint in that area.
But where does that state the B737s of Alliance/IC are Corroded. With Ultrasonic Test Equipment Cracks are easier detected.
IA Mx as AI Mx is very Good.
BTW the B737 is a Fantastic Aircraft.
