Why DL Shuttle 738 To PHX All "Y"?

Why is DL using the 150 seat 738's to PHX with the all "coach" Shuttle configurations? DL also uses the 150 seat 2-class 738's on the same route with a mix of 2-class 762's, 763's, and 752's. Talking to the gate agents in PHX there is a STRONG demand for FC travel between ATL-PHX and putting these all coach airplanes is forcing premium passengers over to other airlines. What's the deal, why not just use the 2-class planes to PHX and send the Shuttle planes to Florida! I know there has been much talk about PHX being a "low" yield city but I see the FC demand on this route, what gives? Even CVG has all it's flights from PHX with dual class cabins.

You mean a large demand for "upgraded" FC service using frequent flyer miles or upgrades certs?

That makes a big difference...

Delta is now in the process of once again replacing the shuttle fleet with 733's rather than the 738's, because of the operating cost and range. As this is happening there is "no time" to re-do the interiors in these work horses. So the immediate switch is causing DAL to operate these plains in former DLS config. Also as demand increases on certain routes they might opt to keep the planes in DLS config for a longer period of time. But you have to admit that they are rather comfortable and the IFE is second to none....
