Angelairways, ZRHs taxes are around 30$! LHR for example must be at least three times as high!

Anywhere in Japan will have high taxes, Hong Kong isn't cheap either, nor is Toronto.

a flight between lhr-jfk will cost you £82 or $150 taxes between them, i think JFK, LHR and CDG to name few are the most taxed in the world.

Capri, taxes at CDG are FAR from being the highest in the world !!! where did you get that ?

ATH taxes are ridiculously high ! they were raised many years ago to finance the new E.Venizelos Airport... The airport is now in service for a few years, mostly financed by the European Union, and the PAX continue to pay the same taxes !  Nuts

Sorry I was talking of not just passenegr tax but overall charges (including those to the airline, passed on to the passenger eventually.)

but yes, when you think of it, LHR is higher...

Sydney Airport is not cheap too, probably the most expansive in Australia. LHR, JFK, NRT are amongst the most expansive airports tax in the world.

Airlines complain about the high costs in AMS all the time, and the high landing fees were one of the reasons for U2 to discontinue AMS-NCE-AMS and AMS-BCN-AMS.

Zurich has high taxes but by far not the highest in Europe. LHR has much higher taxes and I think FRA is about the same. In the other parts of the world there are plenty of airports which have much higher taxes, for example NRT , HKG and others.

On the other hand, I think high parking fees in CDG prompted RG to extend its flight GRU-CDG to AMS. It was more expensive to park the a/c in CDG than to fly the short leg CDG-AMS.

LHR definitely has some of the highest passenger taxes in the world. For longhaul flights from LHR you are looking at anything between 60 GBP to 90 GBP (don't know why it varies so much), nothing below that though. And having flown out of LHR numerous times, i've never paid anything less than 60 GBP in taxes in addition to the fare.

Airport Tax: 73,500 BS
Departure Tax: 29,400

So about $50 total depending on where you exchange

Hey Venezuela747 - I agree with you mean about CCS. I flew CCS-BOG recently and was asked to pay $46US at check-in!!!!!!

Of course I had spent all my Bolivars. Things got even worse when I was told there was no ATM that accepted international banking cards.

There was me (poor little 23-year old Brit  Sad) on my own not really knowing what to do. I had to change a travelers check.

So how about the award for most expensive AND most inconvenient to pay?

Would LGW have the same taxes as LHR? I just booked an award ticket, IAH-LGW return, and the taxes per person were:

U.S. Customs User Fee: $5.00
U.S. Immigration User Fee: $7.00
U.S. APHIS User Fee: $4.95
Security Service Fee: $5.00
UK Air Passenger Duty: $75.54
UK Passenger Service Charge: $13.60

A grand total of $111.09 for my "free" ticket!
