Hi
need to go to the US at short notice and the best offers are with KL/NW via AMS and MSP, AFIK all those flights are operated by NW DC-10s - correct?
What is business class like on those planes? IFE? can one sleep in the seats? I have flown on the NW 333s and found that to be a good product, how do these old dogs compare? Any comments would be appreciated.

IFE is the old video system, seats are more comfortable than the knew ones, IMO. I felt like I was sliding downwards when it was in the lie flat phase. The amenities are somewhat less desirable.

I've done World Business Class on both the 333 and D10. The D10 was from BOM - AMS and I found the seats to be fine. You don't have the massage and all the extra jazz on the 333, but I agree the seat was more comfortable. Food wise it will be exactly the same, so really the difference is the aircraft itself and the fact that you don't have AVOD (Audio Video On Demand). There is IFE, but the screens are smaller.

I work (and deadhead) in World Business Class on both DC10 and A-330 aircraft. Frankly, if I'm going to be sitting, I prefer the DC10. The seat cradles me and I can sleep very easily. On the A-330 I find I'm fighting gravity the whole flight. I think Northwest was crazy to install that uncomfortable seat on our new (and refurbished) planes - especially at $30,000 each!

Thanks for your all your replies
In summary, it sounds like the standard "old" (eg like LH before the refurbishment) C-Class product, flew a KL MD11 on the route last year, and reading your responses expect the same service then... (which is ok and would lead me to book it)
are these really DC-10s? - Stupid question I know, let me rephrase, are these original and unmodified DC-10s? Three crew and a cockpit designed in the 70s? I am not trying to cause offence, just curious? Do all the Flt Engineers retire when the 330s come online?
