I know that People's Express bought Britt Air in 1986 or so before Continental/Texas Air bought PE. I was wondering how in early 1987 Eastern had the landing slots at O'Hare to move the moonlight express service from IAH where it was obviously competeting with Continental to ORD? Did EA use some of Britt Airways old slots? in 1987 ORD was slot controlled, so I'm very curious.

I really can't answer your question, but from what I remember, Eastern's ORD "hub" was nothing in comparison to the former Moonlight Special hub in IAH. When they announced the new hub, I only remember adding a few nonstops to LAX and BOS, but nothing of the magnitude of what IAH was. Then, all of the sudden, The Moonlight Special was over. Do you happen to know how big EAL in ORD when the Moonlight Special peaked? If I am right (and I probably am not) then their really weren't that many flights added at ORD and they just reallocated the few slots they had. If I am wrong, I would be more willing to wager that ORD may not have been slot controlled at night and they just freely added flights rather than them using Britt slots.
