I was wondering why Independence Air does not fly LGA-IAD? I thought I remember hearing that it was the plan when the airline started. For many people LGA is much more convenient than JFK.

It very well might have been an ex-indy air, because they sold a few to air wisconson. I will check a few souces, and get back to you in a little while.

Well, we already fly to, like you said, JFK and also to EWR. I guess our marketing team figured it was not worth the investment, I'm guessing because they probably felt that 2 NYC destinations are enough.

Perhaps they were not able to get any slots at LGA.. they are valuable commodity.. or perhaps there was no gate space/counter space... who knows..

My guess is they don't have any slots. LGA is one of two slot controlled airports in the US (DCA being the other). Without any slots, they can't serve LGA.

ERJ170, Kbmiflyer-Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't there a provision that allows a new entrant carrier to get up to 10 pairs of slots or slot exemptions at either airport at any given time? The truth is probably that Independence Air couldn't get gate space at LaGuardia.

Beats me SHUPirate1...

But I would think that even if they got the slots, they wouldn't have a gate space or a space for a ticket counter unless someone shared.. and who would want to share such vital real estate?
