Here is one for the a.net sleuths. Today (yes, I have to teach on a holiday, but that's another topic) I was asking my students what they did for the week of vacation that just ended. One student told me that she was returning from Florida on 2/20/05 via DIA on United when she "almost died". I remind you that this is the description of a 15 year old. She told me they were on an A-320 on UAL and they were airborne when the takeoff was aborted since the airplane started to shake and tipped right. As the story continues, the pilot dropped the plane back to the runway and was able to abort the takeoff and return safely to the terminal. They were told that the brakes were overheated from the ordeal and it would take hours for them to cool, so another plane was brought in and they continued their journey to SJC.
Does anyone have any info on this? Again, I remind you that if something doesn't make sense, don't blame me.

I frequently see people using DIA when refering to Denver. Was the old Stapleton airports code DIA or are people just using it for Denver International Airport?

I thought DEN was Stapleton and DIA was Denver's new airport.
So, despite the 15 year old's explanation, does anyone have any info on an aborted takeoff/delay out of DIA yesterday?

Considering the length of some of the runways at DEN, it is theoretically possible that despite being airborne, the A320 could have returned to the runway and stopped safely. I sure wouldn't want to be the one making THAT decision...
Did she really know (and remember) that it was an A320? Most people could be told they're on a 747 and wouldn't know the difference.

Not only did she remember A-320, she said it was an "airbus A-320". I didn't coach her at all.
Was she right?
Flt 415 had a 2 hr delay due to mechanical. Was scheduled at 11:20AM departed 1:33PM
She said they brought in a new plane because they "didn't know" what was wrong with the original plane. Of course, who knows what the source for this info was.
