First one was a nice suprise. I'm sure it was just an equipment change.

Airline Delta Air Lines
Flight Number 1017
Departure City (Airport) Atlanta, GA (ATL)
Departure Time 02/21/2005 04:38 PM
Arrival City (Airport) Fort Lauderdale, FL (FLL)
Arrival Time 02/21/2005 06:01 PM
Remaining Flight Time 00:00
Aircraft Type Boeing 777-200
Current Altitude 0 feet
Current Groundspeed 0 mph
Flight Status Arrived

On a smaller but even more suprising side.
We had a Qantas (Yes Qantas) DH-8 fly the pattern a few times then park near the tower.

Also the Focas Air 747-300 left sometime during the weekend.

{post edit}
Also had a B-17 fly over the house on it's way into FXE on sunday.

What was a Qantas Dash 8 doing in the Northern/Western Hemisphere?

Seeing that the FL 73G that came in this morning is not listed am I right in assuming that it's become a regular at FLL?

I was at FLL today, I nearly died when I saw the QF Link D84. I think it was doing a presentation/demo flight for an airline.

I also saw the DL 772,never seen on at FLL before.

FL appear to be operating 2 73G's per day into FLL, one am the other late afternoon, around 5 pm ish.

The Focus Air B747 departed FLL for MIA sometime prior to Sunday. On Sunday it was wedged in between two hangars across the street from the Comfort Inn on NW 36th Street.

Saw the Focus Air 747-300 in the queue for departure while landing early Saturday afternoon. Don't know the destination.

I've seen a DL 777 in FLL before, an equipment sub I'm sure. Indeed a rarity here.

as for the DH8, you seem planes like that all the time in Canada, they're built here so you see all manner of airlines. I know in CYWG, there was a pile of foreign A320's there all last year.

I don't know if anyone got any shots of the Focus departing FLL, a friend told me it departed FLL Saturday morning but in less-than-ideal weather for photography. He saw it arriving in Miami at night, ..strange.

Dediced to check flytecomm today, and saw the Dash8-400 thinking it was a non-airline demonstrator, but wow Qantas Link? I guess I should've gone to FLL. That's very unexpected. Hopefully it will be seen again.

What was special was being able to see Md-11's of Delta fly in once every couple of weeks. now that was a treat. The 777 has been here numerous times on equip subs. Continental has had the greatest subs though. I remember a few days of DC10's and 764's subbing some of the EWR bound flights. And I believe most of the beginning runs for the 762 were out of FLL. One night I saw two of them parked at concourse C...C1, C5 gates actually.

Actually the first picture I ever saw of the Delta new colors were on a 777, if I remember correctly parked in FLL. Needless to say I was disgusted/shocked, (and not by the 777)... but anyways, that's irrelevant now.

I've photographed the 777 at FLL before. There used to be a sweet side-on shot at this airport of one in the '98 scheme, one of the first pics of a DL 777. I don't think it's in the database anymore.

Back to the highlight of the day. I'm confused about something here, these arrival/departure times.. landed at FLL at 2:56PM but went back to canada at 1:51PM ? Maybe the last flight plan is wrong...

Did anyone get a photo of the Air Atlanta 747 in FLL on 7th and 10th?

Our company chartered it to take a group over there from BHX!

Cheers,
Noel.

I saw the DH8 on Flytecomm and am sad I missed it. I went down for some spotting on Monday and am finding it is just as good at FLL, if not better, than MIA lately with surprises recently.

Yeah at FLL at least they leave you alone. If you go to the street next to the the 9R spot at Miami you could get a visit from one of these assholes in the miami-dade pickup trucks. They're useless, but very good at not saying hello and telling you to leave the area saying it's 'airport property'.. actually that is a public street. I feel sorry for those visiting from abroad.. I apologize for our own homegrown idiots. I totally understand if you do not want to come back to Miami again.

FLL is a better bet nowadays, at least nobody bothers you.

NoelG,

I got shots of the Air Atlanta.

Is the Dash8 still there by any chance?

cheers  Smile
