When Pan Am went bankrupt, where did most of there 747 pilots go. In a book I was reading about Pan Am, it said there 747 pilots was not pick up by Delta when they bought Pan Am transatlantic routes. I read some of them went to Tower Air, but I woulder where did the rest of them UA, NW, cargo or retirement. I know most of them was older than other pilot and down sizing would be a slap in there faces.

None of these pilots went to UA? Since UA bought so much of their trans-pacific network. Won't UA need pilots? Especially for the 2SP's that they bought from Panam

A lot of former PA 747 pilots went to UA during the takeover of the pacific division, but that was in 1986, five years before PA finally went bust... however I would presume that some of the PA 747 pilots went to go on with UA when they bought the LHR rights... I know that many of the LHR based PA F/A´s went on with UA!
