And, I could be wrong. Nah. That would be twice in one year. I think, maybe.....

If not tonight, it could come by the end of the week. There has been speculation as the when it will be announced. I've heard Tuesday, Friday, anytime within an 11 day period ending this week, or by next fall.

Either way, if it's tonight it won't happen until 6:30-9:30 central time as stated above. And unless an employee that attends the Message comes on this board and announces the big news to everyone, you may not hear anything right away.

It isn't only a.nutters that are potential suckers here. This news has travelled through the whole company and I guarantee it didn't start with the rumor being posten on this board.

Could this be the "big" news?

After only a month on the job, retired Southwest CFO John Denison has been
appointed CEO at ATA. Denison was hired upon the recommendation of Southwest to make certain ATA was not only a good code share partner, but worthy of the LUV money being lent in Chapter 11.

um, appointing a retired CFO to a the CEO position of a company that you have code shar with and have purchased slots from isn't exactly earth shattering in the sense that "I will remember where I was when I heard the news!". It's got to be something bigger than that.

Doubt it...it was all over the wires several days ago... WN could have kept a better secret if this was it...If that is the major news, I'm even more disappointed than if them adding a city had been the news...

The pilot off of our inbound flight a moment ago said the "news" is that US Air and United either lost their mail contracts or that they quit their contracts and that WN is going to be carrying the mail from those contracts but that is still just a rumor until I hear "official" word.

yeah, but WN carrying the mail instead of US could be the big news. not as big as we were hoping for, should that be the case, but oh well.

edit: come to think of it, that isnt really earth-shattering news, so im inclined to doubt that is in fact the big news.

27 Tom in NO : I imagine the folks at US would consider it fairly big news to be losing a mail contract to WN. Another proverbial in the coffin for them. Tom at MSY

35 Post contains images ERJ : And the rumor mill starts again Do we have a time for this press conference?

38 Midway2airtran : Nothing exciting about mail and a former CFO taking control of ATA or even Mexico service. By the way it is described, it would have to be something r
39 EA CO AS : Mexico service would be a major departure from WN's way of doing business, so I'd call that a major announcement. Let's see if it's actually for real,
