Hello,

I was browsing through photos on Planepictures.net and found a photo of the first OS A340-200 in New Colors.

I think it looks amazing!

The bird is OE-LAG.

I can not wait to see a MD-80 or a B777 in the new color scheme!

Hmm.. Certainly better than the old one. But a bit frisky in my opinion.

I personally don't like the livery.

It's nice to see a European airline still using the A342. But this livery really looks good. That light blue belly makes it easy to spot from underneath.

Love the baby blue, however, don't think it particularily matches with bright red... IMHO  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

A little bit more phantasy would look nice on aircraft...
But then it's the beancounters that decide on aircraftpaintings these days...

Together with the new interior it comes within the top-three of my "worst airline branding"-ranking.

Those A340-200s are becoming an old aircraft. Does OS plan on retiring/replacing them anytime soon or in the foreseeable future? Maybe replace them with more A340-300s or the slightly improved A340-300 Swiss Air Lines operates?

Nice livery too... Big grin

I wouldn't exactly call it baby blue, more like some mank toilet cleaner blue, it looks horrific!

The photos have been added to the database around 09:15 A.M. Austrian time (well before any other database) which is also spanish time  Wink/being sarcastic . Although the headline was added later.
Nothing personal AlitaliaMD11 just a clarification.

I agree absolutely. Their old livery was much better, really sad that they replaced it with these horrible colors!

This is the worst c/s on a A342!  Sad  Crying

I thought OA was to get Lauda´s 777, never that they still op. the 342! I´m not complaining though Big grin

Imagine 777 GE (RR?)engines in that baby-blue color!!!

A388,

OS is actully planning on getting ride of the A340-200s, someone please correct me in I am wrong.

For a while they where talking about a swapy with Aeroflot. OS would get the three B777-200s and Aeroflot would get the A340-200s.

I think that deal fel through.

Support Airliners.net - become a First Class Member!

Doesn't repainting an aircraft usually signal that it will stay with that particular airline for a while? Especially when they paint it in such an individual livery? Had it been all-white with a small "Austrian" it would look more "available for sale"-like.

If the A342's are doing the job at an affordable cost, then why not keep them another 5 years...

The Deal with SU was just a rumour and is already denied by the Austrian Airlines Board.

OS´s A342 will fly some years more and it is rumored that additional A332
will join the Fleet by 2006 to expanding the Network.

Destinations could be:

Hong Kong
Guangzhou
Bangalore/Hyderabad/Chennai
Seoul
Nagoya
South Africa ( don´t expect Johannesburg or Cape Town - it will be something
different )

Cheers
Martin

Jaysit, that's a funny comment. Even though I like Airbus aircraft, just like I do with Boeing aircraft, it always makes me laugh when people start talking about the hair dryers or 4 apu's on the A340. It just sounds funny, that's all. Keep them aviation jokes coming...  Big grin  Big grin
