American Airlines continues their expansion of Mexican services.

American Airlines intends to begin daily non-stop service between Dallas and Veracruz, Mexico, using ERJ aircraft, on 2 July 2005. They applied with DOT today:

In the past few months, American Airlines has also added service from Dallas to San Luis Potosi and Torreon, and service to Chihuahua begins in May.

American Airlines also serves the Mexican cities of Acapulco, Aguascalientes, Cancun, Cozumel, Guadalajara, Ixtapa, Leon, Mexico City, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta, and San Jose del Cabo from the US gateways of Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, and St. Louis.

Nice to see they included STL as a gateway hehe, but good news to AA. Is there still rumors of AA switching some mexican ops to AM or MX?

I don't know about "switching" ops. for flights to Mexico to AM or MX. But AA is known to have a very close relationship w/ MX and indeed AA codeshare's on some of it's flights to Mexico

CO was planning capacity expansion on VER before this announcement. AA has been short of regional jets (backfilling F100 routes), and they said that they would only do this service once jets were available. Guess that they have those jets now.

Great to see American/American Eagle on the rise to Mexico.

I can definitely see AA becoming a huge asset to Mexican travelers. But, what about some expansion in the Caribbean.

All I heard that American Eagle may fly SJU-VQS (Vieques). Any other cities?

Grenada and Antigua will likely be getting their non-stops to Miami back in the future. Eagle is also looking at adding new cities in the Bahamas, though they are being cautious.

CO has been serving Veracruz from Houston for about 10 years, they have a few more markets from Houston yet to be announced in Mexico coming online.

Also they are growing their Mexican network from LAX, they have three routes from LAX to Mexico which will most likely grow. Hopefully they will also land the LAX-Mexico City rights, stay tuned.

I'm surprise they haven't started Veracruz yet.
